Kursk-1 is a Russian-type nuclear reactor that is permanently shut down after 45 years of operation. During its operation, the unit has generated about 251TWh of electricity and provided its services to the Kursk region for about 30 years. Two new nuclear reactors are under construction which will replace the reactor in the future. According to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Russia has 38 (now 37) operating reactors and 4 units are under construction.
